As I was praying the psalms

About a week ago I got back to praying through the psalms.  I have a goal of 5 psalms a day, and I highly recommend this type of reading.  The psalms were meant as a prayer and worship instruction book.  Today I found a psalm that is making it into my top list of verses.

All of Psalm 25 is great, but I especially resonate with 11-12:

"For the sake of your name, O Lord,
forgive my iniquity, though it is great.

Who, then, is the man that fears the LORD?
He will instruct him in the way chosen for him." -TNIV

There is just so much good stuff in these two verses.  "For the sake of your name" David isn't asking for his sin to be forgiven because he wants to save himself, he is asking for his sin to be forgiven because he's widely known as a man who trusts the God of Israel.  He knows that if he does something ungodly it doesn't only reflect badly on himself, it reflects poorly on the perfect God that he is serving.  In additoin, he knows that his sin is great, but also knows that God is willing and even WANTING to forgive sin of those who follow Him wholeheartedly.

"He will instruct him in the way chosen for him"  This I just love.  God does not just teach His children to live a pious life, this would be a very small view of a very big God.  God teaches each of His children the way that is chosen for them specifically.  My way will follow the basic precepts laid out in the Bible, but it will not be the same way that another's life is supposed to be lived.  There are basic things that are true of everyone (such as what is sin and what is not), but not everyone is meant to be a teacher, or writer, or pastor.  We each have a unique set of gifts that were given to us by God, and we can choose to use them for His glory or not.  If we choose to use them for God then He will instruct us in the way chosen for us.  How magnificent!!

This is not a cookie cutter model.  There is not a perfect christian woman that I and all other women are supposed to become.  God is breaking me and forming me into the best Lyzz that I can be, He has not made my duplicate somewhere else.  There is a reason for me to be here at this time for His kingdom and glory.  There is a purpose for you too if your willing to trust Him.
