Today is my 22nd birthday, so happy birthday to me! I had an awesome day yesterday. Geoff planned the whole day and didn't tell me what we were doing. Geoff got me this really really pretty necklace that I opened that morning. I thought it was just going to be me and him, but halfway through the day all my roommates and my old roommate Laura turned up at the park and we all flew kites. Then we got home and Geoff made a really good rum cake and appetizers and more people came over. Our friends Greg and Diana bought me a really good bottle of wine, which I tried later that night. There was dancing and friends and good times all around. I'm looking forward to 22 being a great age to be :)
Things I want to do while I'm 22:
- Go to Florida
- Get up to my family's island in Canada
- See my churches new site succeed (and help as much as I can with that)
- Start Alpha* on my campus (UMass Boston)
Things I'm working on before I'm 23:
- Being better with my money
- Managing time well
- Keeping in contact with people better (particularly my family)
Anyway that's what I'm thinking about as I officially become a year older...wow I don't have a significant birthday coming up for a few years...next one is probably 25 cuz then I can rent a car with anyone I want :) And if I have a car by then my insurance will be lower:)
*Alpha is a really great class that for people that are either very new to following Jesus or not sure if they want to follow Him. It is a great place to ask hard questions and really think about how faith looks in day to day life. It is really exciting to watch people come to answers all by themselves (your job as a leader is just to listen and bring up conversation, not give answers) about how following Jesus looks. I've seen a lot of people come to faith from this.
Sweet. Alpha is pretty cool. I know a couple of people (one anyway, maybe more if I think hard) that met Christ in this way. Good to know God is still doing awesome things in your life Lyzz. Yeah, 23 ain't a bad age. Might've been the worst year of my entire life!!!! But it paved the way into a Divine Meeting for my 24th year. Thank God.
